• teaching processes in multi- and monograde classrooms in the Turks and Caicos islands
• the organisation and practice of multigrade teachers in Greece (Rhodes)
• perceptions of and strategies for multigrade teaching in an inner city of England (London)
• ICT-based teacher training for multigrade teachers in Greece, Spain and Finland a range of master’s and doctoral level dissertations on multigrade teaching.

The research has led to a range of specific development projects, supported by national agencies, designed to enhance the work of the multigrade teacher:

• The development of a guide (in English and Vietnamese) of multigrade teachers for natural and social science, Vietnam
• The re-sequencing of the primary curriculum in selected subjects in Nepal and Sri Lanka
• innovations in in-service and pre-service teacher education in Sri Lanka.
